Did the Bone Fone work?

I was thinking about it because, while I don't even own an iPod, it would seem to be the perfect answer to where to hang your audio player, as well as how to deal with those bothersome headphones.

I had one many years ago that I won from my raquetball club for playing enough raquetball that summer (lol) As I remember it worked just great. The concept being that the speaker (though small) were essentially places against your collar bones and/or neck bone and/or shoulder bones (hence the name) and through bone induction "send" the sound to your ears without others easlily or at all hearing what you were listening to. Valid and good concept but would need a major redesign today...hmmm, I DO have some free time...(smile)(HUGGS)

It was available without the built-in radio - I had a pair. They didn't work as well - the fact that the head-phone only unit was 6-8" shorter, and didn't have the heavier weight at the end, meant that they didn't stay in place anywhere near as reliably.

Yes, it did, although the Spandex cover it came with was scratchy so my mom kindly made me a terry-cloth replacement, and it made just enough noise on the bus that Metro drivers would make you turn it off. I'd be using mine today, except that the little tiny plastic piece that held the electronics onto the padded section that went around your neck broke and I didn't have the facilities at the time to make a duplicate. I'd fix it and let you try mine if I knew where we put it during the move: it's around somewhere...

Just checked eBay: $73.00? I may go into cloning Bone Fones!
