A kickstarter for an interesting-looking board/card game that I can't decide if I'm going to pledge or not. Deadline Feb 16th. If I do, I want to be at the $29 level. But since my income dropped from $2K a month to about $100 a month, I'm not that comfortable pledging to things right now.

Actual investigative reporting on a topic of interest to me. It gives me hope for the future.

I didn't know the "Chi-Fi" guys were so dumb. Putting their con in the middle of the city obviously gives more people the chance to commute from home *and* makes for higher room rates. That's tricky, and I was dubious from the beginning. Not having a horse in the race, I have no motivation to wallow through and try to arrive at my own true truth of what happened. But insulting the hotel chain? really?
Right now, I'm at Confusion (http://www.confusionsf.org/). I have taught two or three people the word "smof" this weekend — including the head of Ops, who has been working the department for several years. The notion of accumulated technical knowledge seems to be loster and loster.
I have no idea what the Chi-Fi people were thinking in avoiding knowing the basic mistakes, but fortunately, it's no cost to me.
