A book announcement, sort of

alicebentleyQuite a while back, Greg Ketter told me about a publishing project he was very excited about: One of his favorite movies, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, also has a novelization written for it, but the English language edition only came out in the UK, and that was over 50 years ago. Adding to the interest is the writer "Vargo Statten", a pen name for well-loved pulp writer John Russell Fern.
Fast forward through years of negotiations, acquisition of bonus photo material, permission (for $$$ of course) from Universal Studios, with design and production from Garcia Publishing Services (hi Bob!), and you have one likely-to-be damn fine book.
DreamHaven Books is publishing it in three editions: a $20 trade paperback, a $50 hardcover, and a $125 limited edition hardcover with signatures from both Julie Adams and Ricou Browning.
What I don't know (and I'll probably edit this note later when I do) is whether these books have already arrived from the printer, and are waiting to wing their way to new homes, or if that's still a short time away. Cool stuff no matter when.
