Buzzing beehive in my head

alicebentleyI've enjoyed cruising through my Friends list so much that I'm finally, with even a bit of guilt, going to try to post here a bit more often.
Part of the reluctance to post is not seeing why the daily trivialities of my actions might interest others. But I've realized that those are just exactly the parts I find intriguing to encounter, so perhaps the feeling is mutual.
Today's task is to post a bunch of Magic cards on ebay, leftover stock from when the bookstore was a major source for the Crack of Gaming. Gotta finish up before noon, because then I need to head down to Rogers Park (the park itself, which is in the Chicago neighborhood of the same name) to help with next autumn's AYSO soccer registration, and then watch my son's 3:45 game.
Tasks for this evening include starting work on a costume for Marty (he wants to be Link at the upcoming anime convention), setting up to polyurathane a tabletop for my being-constructed workdesk, packing up and shipping out our collection of Ranma 1/2 VHS tapes (having found an interested youngster who will enjoy them), and continuing the monumental task of preparing the household for our relocation from Chicago to the Seattle area (we'll be moving at the end of July).
But what's in my head are thoughts of websites that would be fun to work on. Not profitable, or even useful, just fun. Like an index of all the issues of Pyrotechnics. Or a website called www.disrepectfulandinaccurate.com where I give my own translation of some of the recent political speeches and newspaper articles, since it always seems like I hear a different version than they're saying. Or posting my hand-drawn study guide for learning hiragana and katakana, which folds into a scrap only 1.5" x .5" x .25" and can be pulled out to study whenever I'm stuck somewhere for a bit. Or...but I think you get the idea.
Now, off to ebay - of maybe I'll make breakfast first.

Date: 2004-05-03 02:42 am (UTC)Seattle itself seemed to be out of our price bracket, at least for the kind of house we would like to have and the kind of commute that would be comfortable for Mike. Vashon Island, however, is a rural community south and west of Seattle that has a ferry commute, and housing is cheaper than Seattle, although more expensive than Chicago.
Why Seattle (for those just joining us) is because Mike's job is there, and he's been telecommuting for the last three years, via email, file transfers, phone conferences and spending roughly one week in four over there. He loves the work, they love him, and with the bookstore closed moving became an option.
The schools on Vashon are divided between 1st - 5th, 6th - 8th and high school, so by moving now he'll at least be joining a class while they all get used to new teachers and buildings, even though I'm sure they will already know most of their schoolmates.
