Since pretty much right after encountering her (I was probably around 10), I was very impressed with the way Manora handled the various crisis and chaos in Dragonflight. Calm and practical while others are falling apart, but still having a warm concern - she wasn't just unaffected.

In the very unlikely chance that you haven't read these, Dragonflight is the first of (too) many books in the Dragonrider of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey, and Manora was the head administrator (read den mother) of the only remaining dragon holding.
