I think of bricks as something you "fire," but perhaps these are concrete bricks. But you are making connections too, which doesn't sound like concrete bricks or regular bricks. Lego! Maybe these are Lego bricks, and you are pouring liquid plastic into an injection mold!
Or it could be an autocorrect typo for "pounding the bricks." This did not occur to me until after I had written the previous paragraph.
